Entertainer's Delight - Maintained by the Same Owners for 30 Years
Dear Prospective Buyer,
When we first visited the property three decades ago, we were immediately attracted by its charm, space, and thoughtful design. The long driveway offered wonderful street appeal and ample parking, and the double-brick construction of the ground floor gave the home a sense of strength and permanence. The wide pergola stretching across the front verandah created a welcoming entry, while the private outdoor entertaining area and pool promised a lifestyle of relaxation and fun.
Inside, the spacious rooms impressed us from the beginning-four generous double bedrooms (with the potential for a fifth), two separate living areas, and the flexibility to convert one of the downstairs living spaces into an ensuited bedroom if ever needed. We loved the upstairs verandah accessible from three of the bedrooms, the warm wooden panelling and balustrade along the stairs, and the cleverly designed downstairs bathroom with direct access to the pool area so swimmers wouldn't have to walk through the house. It felt both practical and full of character.
Over the years, the spaces we've enjoyed most have always been those that connect us to the outdoors. We use the outdoor entertaining area through all seasons, with outdoor blinds and a transparent ceiling that offer shelter while still allowing everything to open up beautifully. Many of our meals throughout spring, summer, and autumn have been enjoyed outside. Our master bedroom has long been a favourite retreat too, with its generous ensuite and walk-through robe. We have hosted many unforgettable gatherings-from 21sts to 70ths and even engagement parties-on the front lawn overlooking the pool, with ample room for a marquee. And many evenings have been spent on the upstairs verandah at dusk, glass of wine in hand, watching the storms roll in.
The home has benefited from careful, high-quality improvements as well. With nearly 50 years' experience as a commercial, residential, and industrial builder, all renovations have been carried out efficiently and with meticulous attention to detail. The kitchen and all three bathrooms were renovated in 2019. The kitchen now features a beautiful in-situ timber benchtop, sleek handle-less cabinetry, and self-opening drawers and cupboards. Around the pool, we installed limestone paving, a glass fence with stainless steel posts, and a curved-glass-surround deck-one of our favourite breakfast spots in summer.
Throughout every season, the home has a special magic. Sitting on the upstairs verandah with a glass of wine, music in the background, garden and pool lights glowing, and the moon rising between the palm trees is one of our cherished rituals. The layout also lends itself perfectly to families-there is plenty of space for children and teenagers to enjoy their own areas while still feeling connected to the rest of the home.
There are also many hidden benefits that we've grown to appreciate deeply: the quietness of this section of Newport Drive, with only cul-de-sac traffic; two nearby parks within walking distance (one only 100m away); the wide street with plentiful parking; and the peaceful mornings when we are woken only by birdsong. The walk-through space under the stairs has also been a handy storage area-or a wonderful cubby for young children.
If we could take one thing with us, it would be the upstairs verandah. During the pandemic, we converted a double bedroom into a home office with sliding glass access to the verandah, and it became an unexpectedly serene and inspiring workspace. The verandah itself remains one of the most relaxing places in the home-with space to hang two hammocks and enjoy the breezes.
We hope that whoever moves into this home will feel the same sense of peace, comfort, and belonging that we have cherished for three decades. It has been our haven, our gathering place, and the backdrop to a lifetime of memories.
Warmest regards,
The Current Owner
